How Merit Is Calculated

Out of 100 marks, 40 marks are for game skill, physical fitness and coach’s observation during the trial, 50 marks for recognised sports achievements and 10 marks for educational qualification. This means your sports certificates carry the highest weight, so upload all eligible achievement certificates (on or after 1 April 2024) in the correct format.

Tips for Applicants

• Check that your achievement falls under the Category A, B or C championships recognised by the Railway Board for sports quota.
• Since no age relaxation is applicable, make sure you are between 18 and 25 years as on 1 January 2027.
• Stay match-fit – candidates who are found “not fit for recruitment” in the trial are not considered further, irrespective of past achievements.
• Keep originals of educational and sports certificates ready for document verification at the trial venue.
