Eligibility Criteria

• Full-time, regular Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a UGC-recognised university or AICTE-approved institution
• Minimum aggregate marks: 65% for General/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates, 60% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates
• Degree must be completed in 2026, or candidate must be in the final year (2026-27); earlier graduates (2025 or before) are not eligible
• Only a valid GATE 2027 score/registration number will be accepted — scores from GATE 2026 or earlier are not valid for this cycle
• Maximum age: 26 years as on 18 March 2027 (SC/ST +5 years, OBC-NCL +3 years, PwBD +10 years, Ex-servicemen as per service period; absolute cap 56 years)

Pay Scale

GAIL offers one of the best compensation packages among PSUs. In the previous GATE-2026 cycle, Executive Trainees were placed in the E2 grade with a pay scale of ₹60,000–₹1,80,000 and Basic Pay of ₹60,000 during the one-year training-cum-probation period, along with Variable DA, HRA/company accommodation, medical coverage, group insurance, PF, gratuity and pension. Final figures for the 2027 cycle are expected to be similar but are yet to be officially confirmed.

How to Apply

1. Register for the GATE 2027 exam through IIT Madras (gate2027.iitm.ac.in) and appear for the exam in February 2027.
2. Obtain your GATE 2027 admit card and registration number.
3. Once the window opens on 17 February 2027, apply online directly at gailonline.com (careers section), quoting your valid GATE 2027 registration number.
4. Submit the application before 18 March 2027, 6:00 PM. Applications without a valid GATE 2027 registration number will be rejected.
